"Cirrus's Third Generation Aircraft"

Friday, 9 October 2009 07:13 by Cirrus Aircraft

Christopher Chance, writer for Horizon's, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's monthly publication, writes, "From the time of the Wright brothers up until not so long ago, flying small aircraft was a harsh, noisy, greasy operation only found enjoyable by pilots. Luckily, Cirrus is here to change all that."  Read his review here.

"What's An Airplane Doing At A Boat Show?"

Wednesday, 23 September 2009 02:59 by Cirrus Aircraft

Today's AvWeb reports:  Getting lots of attention from potential new pilots, hopefully. Mark Bennett, New England regional sales rep for Cirrus Aircraft, parked himself outside the entrance to the Newport (R.I.) International Boat Show last weekend, one of the largest events of its kind in the country. Bennett brought along a full-scale mockup of a Cirrus SR-22 and invited all comers to climb aboard and check it out. The mock-up is an actual aircraft off the production line, only lacking an engine. The wings have been altered to make them easily removable, so the mock-up can travel up and down the East Coast on a truck, helping the sales staff troll for new customers at a variety of non-standard venues. "This airplane has been to boat shows, car dealer's showrooms, in hotel lobbies, you name it," says Bennett. All in all, the airplane and its fully equipped cockpit host about 25,000 potential buyers per year.

"We don't expect to actually make sales at these events," Bennett said. "But we are gathering leads, and we take interested prospects up for a flight [in Bennett's fully functional Cirrus, parked at a nearby airport]. And we're introducing new people to the idea of using a general aviation aircraft for business and for personal use." Last week's visit to Newport was the second year that Cirrus has exhibited at the show, Bennett said. "Last year, the most-asked question was, 'What's an airplane doing at a boat show?' But this year, we're hearing less of that. I think people are kind of starting to get it."

NBAA HIGHLIGHTS INCREASED USE OF SINGLE ENGINE/SINGLE PILOT AIRCRAFT FOR BUSINESS TRAVEL

Thursday, 20 August 2009 11:32 by Cirrus Aircraft

In a recent article in Aviation Week, the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) recognizes a significant shift in business aircraft use to single engine aircraft and single pilot operations.  Further, NBAA is planning strong support for this growing segment at the NBAA annual meeting and convention in Orlando this October.

The article states: "A lot of companies are relying on airplanes that are capable of being flown single pilot," said NBAA CEO and President Ed Bolen during a conference call this morning. "Companies are using everything from the [Cirrus] SR22 to the Pilatus and the light jets." He says that company executives and professionals who operate their own airplanes are a key part of business aviation.

Single engine Cirrus Aircraft are exceptional business tools.  "For those businesses with regional travel needs, the Cirrus makes perfect sense.  The complications and schedule limitations of airline travel or the time commitment of car travel do not afford businesses the competitive edge that the versatility of personal air travel does," says Todd Simmons, Vice President of Marketing of Cirrus Aircraft and Cirrus pilot.  "Time is the new currency.  For our business owners, regional travel in a Cirrus is a way of life and an irreplaceable asset that makes a real difference to the bottom line."

Additionally, the tax and depreciation benefits of aircraft ownership - made possible by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 - make the value proposition of aircraft ownership for business use stronger than it has ever been.
